Richmond High Community Garden HomeThis is a featured page

Mission: To create a sustainable garden at Richmond High School that helps to "green" the school, provides access to and education about good healthy organic food, and provides a sanctuary for students in an urban environment. The RHS Garden wants to take an active part in bringing high quality, local produce to the people of West Contra Costa County.

Goals:
  • Continue to expand production to be able to supply residents, restaurants and Richmond High with high quality produce
  • To begin an Urban Agriculture class at Richmond High where students can learn about the food system, practice gardening, engage their community and earn credits for college and graduation.
  • To collaborate and partner with local organizations like the 5% local coalition, urban tilth, and other schools to begin the process of revolutionary change to our food system in West Contra Costa.
Needs:
  • If any dedicated citizen would like to help the students of Richmond High continue the good work happening at Richmond High, we can always use donations of garden tools, soil, lumber, and of course financial donations. Garden donations can be brought to Room 561 at Richmond High (Mr. Kurtz-Nicholl's room) and Financial Donations are tax deductible and can be made out to Richmond High Community Garden and mailed to: Jesse Kurtz-Nicholl, 1250 23rd St. Richmond, CA 94801
